A Dog is a mirror. Western culture sees dogs as near equals to humans - as members of the family, best friends, and trusted companions. Dogs Out West surveys ever-changing relationships between humans and dogs in North America, as well as explores the idea that dogs are an extension of the self. Dogs reflect back on us who we are as a people. This ongoing body of work investigates these extraordinary symbiotic bonds, documenting what it means to be a dog in the twenty-first century.
